New burgundy blazer. That’s whats up.

Was very excited when I picked this guy up, though admittedly I had to force myself to put down the blue one I had in my hands. Believe it or not I’m quite conservative, that’s why all my details are bright but my basics are generally grey’s and blues! But I suspect that summer will be full of colour, and this is a cotton lightweight guy so it’s perfect!

The details of this outfit are:

Burgundy blazer from Markhams

Blue button down from Abercrombie and Fitch

Blaid tie From HE for Mango

Tan belt with free with green details by Paul Smith

Pocket square from ASOS

Skinny jeans by Wrangler

Tan wingtips from Zara

We also ran our intermittent #FancyFriday on our instagram feed, I say intermittent because we either forget, or cant take the pressure of choosing! It’s difficult, like you wouldn’t believe, but will soon see why! We had some killer outfits and a record number of entries I think.

Taking it for the men was @icarlosdiaz, and with all the great outfits we had, this just stood out! Besides the amazing vintage tie and oversized brooch, nothing really matched but looked amazing!Taking it for the ladies, is long time Instagram friend and supporter Kim from @hisandhers_fashion Mish and I just loved that floral blazer and the bright blue shoes, that outfit was simple and elegant at the same time! A perfect fancy friday look in our eyes!

Finally, and only because he’s a cute little guy! is our #JnrFancyFriday winner, with this little submission from @dvgc. Sweeet man!

Below are the rest of the entries. Some real standouts and amazing outfits. Lot’s of fashionistas not scared to play with colour and texture, it’s inspiring. If you don’t see yourself here and you submitted, drop us a mail, the other reason could be that you didn’t tag us or you submitted an outfit you weren’t actually wearing on Friday. Okay. Enjoy.

Chillin like a villain.

So this is a Nick Wooster classic, well, classic in the way he has a tie that matches his shirt. He loves that shit! I’m a big fan myself, just don’t have anything like it.

Then, the formal short look! Ive tried it, I’ve loved it. It works especially well here as it gives his permanent accessory a time to shine! Nice ink Wooster, nice ink!

Final statement, the semi tied monk strap shoes, why semi tied, well, because it makes it less formal, but no less fun!

Okay. Stay Fancy!

Like a Bauws!

You don’t get more classic then a black suit, white shirt black tie combo. It’s fail safe.

You don’t get more Nick Wooster than yellow wingtips, burning cigarette in hand!

The lesson learnt here? There’s always room for colour…and if you gonna make room for colour. Well, make it count!

Okay. Stay Fancy!

Meet Nick Wooster.

Ex fashion director for Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus and current creative director at JC Penny, the man has style by the busload.

When asked who’s style I admire and who my fashion icon is, it’s this guy. His look is classic and contempory all at the same time, with the most outrageous level of brave details, at 51, we can all only hope to be this cool one day.

So, every wednesday, I’ll be doing a little bit of Wooster inspiration. Like this tweed explosion above, a classic look with the awesome military inspired line down the side of the pants and those wingtip boots!! Nice!

Okay. Stay Fancy!

Another black tie event.

Another, creative black tie application.

Still wanting to use up all my new stuff, I decided to throw on my new blazer and bow tie together with that new pocket square. I was happy to see everything that I had bought independently of one another all went perfectly (I thought) when brought together.

It’s one little tip worth following when shopping, “don’t buy anything you need to buy something else for to make it wearable”, make sure that everything new you buy can work with something you already own, otherwise it just sits in the back of your closet.

The details of this outfit are the following:

Blazer from Zara

Shirt and from Ben Sherman

Jeans by Cheap Monday

Bow tie from The Tie Bar (appears to already be sold out)

Pocket square from Asos (appears to already be sold out)

Shoes from Zara (Available currently inSouth Africa)

Okay. Stay Fancy.

So today was our second official Fancy Friday, where we ask all of our Instagram followers to dress up and tag us. We choose a mail and female winner and voila. It’s kinda cool knowing that different people all around the world are giving casual friday the finger. Take a look at the gallery below to see the winners and the entrants.

So I decided to do a little pattern mixing with the plaid and gingham, it usually works as long as you’re mixing different patterns and not the same ones, but even that works sometimes, not often, but sometimes.

The details of the outfit are:

Blazer & Brogues by Zara

Shirt from Ben Sherman

Tie from Mr Price

Pants from H&M

Belt by Paul Smith

The winners of the #FancyFriday challenge were @Karlareed for the ladies and @skinofsociety for the gents. We loved Karla Reeds retro inspired outfit and that hair bun, well, it sealed the deal. The moment this pic from Nicholas Gore came through we knew it was gonna be a winner. The camo pants were a risky move but the contrast came together amazingly, it brings just the right amount of fancy to street fashion. All the little details like the flower and paperclip tie clip finished it off perfectly.

Here are the rest of the entrants, some really nice stuff coming through and it becomes difficult to pick a winner. If you wanna enter next week simply dress up, tag your shot with #FancyFriday and make sure to @whatmyboyfriendwore (just so we know you’re taking part, unfortunately we don’t own the fancy friday hash tag). Win or not, we’ll feature you here next week. Good luck.

Was looking to go a little preppy today. Preppy is one of those looks that never really goes out of fashion, but the nuances adapt to whatever the trends are, in this case, a skinnier fitting chino and slim stripy tie mixed up with some tan brogues a cable knit card and a plaid shirt. The details of this outfit are Cardigan from Markhams Tie from Aldo Button up shirt and chinos from Abercrombie and Fitch Belt by Paul Smith Shoes from Zara
