Im doing Movember.

Properly this time.

Dont know what movember is? Oh.

Well, iit’s pretty much about mans ultra accessory, the moustache and bringing it back, for a good cause, that good cause being cancer research and awareness more importantly prostate cancer. So the moustache in this case is “the ribbon” like the pink one for breast cancer, except it’s fluffy and sits on your top lip, which creates talkability and of course awareness.

Having been diagnosed with Hodgkins disease (cancer of the lymph glands) when I was 18, it kinda makes me feel like I should really doing something so that more research can be done and cures found like they did for mine.

So how does it work? Well, you start November off clean shaven, I realise I’m 5 days late, which puts me at a bit of a disadvantage, but I am portuguese, and if nothing else, I should be able to grow a decent mo by the end of the month. Right now, I look like this.

But, there is more to this than just growing a fluffy upper lip. Awareness is one thing, but money is what stops the cancer. So the whole movember community have set up an amazing website here where you can go on and register for donations. So I thought, well, I have a hand full of visitors to this little blog, maybe I can help raise some money by looking like a Portuguese cafe owner for a while.

So I registered. Now I need you to go make donations. Not massive one’s were not talking millions, not even thousands…or hundreds. I’ve put in the first R100 though and thought I would make it more interesting for you guys with this “mo money mo ridiculous” plan.

It’s actually quite simple.

I’m gonna start with the below mo “The Santana” and will keep it up till the end of November as long as I get R1000 (about $115) worth of donations in.

Now, I feel quite confident that I will be able to survive with the above mentioned mo for a month, that little soul patch kinda helps it look more fun and less like you meant it. However, If I reach R2000 of donations (about $230) I will take it a step up…or down as it were to “The Magnum”

Again, I can probably take the magnum without feeling too foolish. I reckon most people round this month will be sporting a similar mo. Get myself a few Hawaiian shirts and a tiny man with2 dogs and just blend in. But If I reach R3000 (about $345) I’m taking it, to “The Ringo”

Last, and of course most embarrassing mo I could shave the above Ringo into, If we hit the R5000 mark, is the one below, “The Prince”, sure I’ll look ridiculous, but we would of raised R5000 and that’s pretty rad.

Now, this may not seem like a big deal, but don’t forget that I put my mug on instagram and this blog everyday to over 5000 followers. So there is no escaping, you will see it all come to life and I will do weekly close ups! oooohh, bet some people will pay just to not have to see that!

Okay. So get donating. The whatmyboyfriendwore official movember page is waiting…and any little bit helps right?

Okay. Stay fancy.
